16 Jan Ivison Guitars
Ivison Guitars is a boutique electric guitar company based in Worcestershire, UK.
Headed up by Neil Ivison, a guitarist and guitar tech for over 20 years, who retired from international touring in 2018 to set up a busy repair and luthiery shop.
Steadily gaining a worldwide reputation, Ivison build guitars for discerning players across the globe. As played by The Hives and Guns ‘n’ Roses!
All Ivison guitars are built one at a time, from raw lumber billets to the final hand buffed ‘vintage patina’ finish using the finest quality materials available and using both traditional and modern construction methods and techniques.
Ivison use Honduran and African mahogany, Spanish cedar, korina, eastern maple, Indian rosewood, celluloid inlays, celluloid binding and pickguards, aniline dyes, non-plasticised nitrocellulose lacquer and the finest pickups available, hand wound specifically for them here in the UK.
Every guitar is meticulously built and set up in their Worcestershire workshops.
Envisaged as the soul of the radical mid 60s, auto inspired guitars but with a more ergonomic, manageable vintage single cut feel.
Models; Dakota, Korina Dakota, Dakota One
The Hurricane combines Neil’s favourite elements of the single cut guitars that were being made at 225 Parsons St, Kalamazoo in the late 50s.
