Got up to £1000 to spend on an electric guitar? Then your choice is immense as every manufacturer seems to have a number of quality guitars in the £750 to £1000 price range, which features solid, semi and hollow body models.

For £1000 you can get the ‘real’ mojo as the US makers have some home grown instruments available and plenty of Mexican or Far East made models, but if you shop around you will find a US made Strat, Tele, Les Paul, SG or PRS for under a grand.
And if you want to go homegrown take a look at Gordon Smith; hand made in the UK and with a great pedigree.

A more affordable PRS from their far east factory, but still great. A modern classic with maple top, mahogany back, maple neck and rosewood fretboard. 24 frets hence the name. Comes in a range of great colours/finishes.

Fender American Performer Stratocaster £900
Made in California, this delivers tone and feel in spades. Alder body, three Yosemite single-coils, jumbo frets, choice of four finishes. You can also get a Telecaster, Jazzmaster and Mustang from the same series.
